Double Header Belgian Classics Weekend

Two Belgian Classics over the fabled cobbles of Flanders Friday 23rd to Monday 26th March.

John McDowall and Derek Evans are organising the latest expedition to Belgium to watch and ride the Spring Classics over a long weekend from Friday 23rd March and returning Monday 26th March 2018.

  • Friday 23rd March Drive over to Flanders earlyish on  to catch the pros riding E3 Harelbeke.
  • On Saturday 24th ride the 136km version Cycle-Sportive of Ghent - Wevelgem (the sprinters Classic)
  • On Sunday 25th March ride the 150K 'rolling' Cycle-Sportive version of  Johan Museeuw Classic/E3 Harelbeke (the mini Tour of Flanders)
  • Late breakfast on the Monday then return, maybe stopping at Ypres to bend a knee at the Menin Gate

We are staying in the Ibis Expo in Kortrijk rather than the Centrum, parking looks easier and it looks quieter. It's up to you where you stay but anywhere in central Kortrijk puts you in riding distance of the two cycling events. Book those first especially the G-W as it has limited entries, links below. Then 'buddy up' with those that are prepared to drive, share rooms and the like to get cars and crossings organised. We can firm up on Channel Crossing times later if we wish to drive as a group. Of course you are free to do what rides you want to do, there are shorter options both days, so you could go long and do a shorter one the next.

Please note, distances can be changed on the day and if preferred you can opt out of Sunday's ride to watch the Ghent Wevelgem pro race on the Kemmelberg.
