Candy canes it

A fine warm evening and it was time to find out who would step up when the chippings were down.

Surface dressing on Robins Nest Hill did not prevent Nick Candy from laying down a 20 minute marker on his first appearance this year. Jim Moss will be hoping that his early points on the board will be enough to stave off the challenge from the flying youngster in the race for the coveted Ken Davis Silver Salver, but with only your best seven results counting, they may in the end be in vain.

The sticky tar and loose stones ensured that cub reporter Chris Dixon had an excuse ready for his poor showing, and it was his directions that led debutant Richard Allen astray. 'Don't get lost' is the first rule of TT Club, although personally I often hear instructions to the contrary.

The more athletic riders diverted to the Farmers Boy where in the first of a new series of 'From the Grass Verge', Ashley gave an interesting talk on the anatomy and bodily functions of a cyclist, whether we wanted him to or not.

Thanks to Ian Turner for organising and timekeeping, with Graeme Potter and Chris Glithero there to help out, and of course to Debbie for tea, cakes and those amazing veggie sausage rolls.
