Brickendon 2021 wk9, 29nd June

They think it's all over

What a night! This evening will live long in the memory. An historic result that will go down in the North Road history books, probably as a chapter on its own.

Yes, England beat Germany. But apart from that, nothing much happened at Brickendon in cool, dampish, mildly breezy conditions. 4 avid contenders and a bunch of helpers turned up while everyone else was boozing in the pub, staying late to watch at work, pressing a portable radio to their ear on the train, or at home shouting at the telly for Kane to get his a**e in gear.

Nikki was pressed into riding to make up the numbers and made a creditable if unenthusiastic effort. Ivana was a couple of seconds faster than last week with her second best time of the season. Jim couldn't beat his pb but cements his lead at the top of the leaderboard in the exciting race for the coveted Ken Davis Silver Salver. With future 10s in doubt this season due to planned roadworks on Brickendon Lane from July 21st, some people think it's all over. It isn't yet!

So an easy night for the rookie timekeeper (me) ably assisted by Ian, and thanks to Frank for signs and Graham and Debbie for signing on and refreshments.
