Welwyn Track League - Fri 1st June 2012

On yet another dismal evening, weather wise, Warren Cobb and Simon Best were North Road’s sole representatives. Both Warren and Simon rode well in the B cats first event, the 10 lap scratch. After much jostling of positionsin the bunch and some doomed attacks, Simon illuminated proceedings with another lone attack, a speciality of his. He was sadly reeled in though with a few laps to go and both he and Warren finished low down the field. In the 10 lap block pursuit Simon faired better after both groups were whittled down to an exciting four versus four battle – the evens group edging it of which Simon took a well deserved second placing behind the Swiss rider Martin Roop. Sadly after the next youth races the event was halted for bad light and drizzly rain.
