The Club started the season for 21 riders with 10 NR-ers and 11 visitors making up the field at Brickendon Green: many familiar faces appearing on the line for the timekeeper to get into the usual routine of 5,4,3,2,1, GO…… The event went ahead through the good offices of Jeff Tipper responsible for putting out the obligatory signs, a NR volunteer pushing off the riders, June Lacey ably assisted by Anne Jones all the way from Queensland Australia on a visit to the old country and Annabel Thompson helping with the clerical work and money.

Not many from the old club but just enough to ensure the smooth running of the event: members of the Hoddesdon tri rode and spectated in what turned out to be a good social start to the season.

The pair of Jobe Usher NRCC and Campbell Rae former NRCC upheld the honour of the promoting club, followed by two pairs from the Hoddesdon Tri and in fourth place the first all NR pair of Steve James and Eric Paillet. The young junior, Christian Manzi, sped round the course on his own in the excellent time of 26.01 but some of the other pairs perhaps need a few more miles in their legs! Fortunately the event was blessed with warmer and calmer conditions than experienced in the past few weeks, but the potholes and rough road surfaces have to be endured.
