Welwyn Track League 16 - Fri 6th Aug 10

Sat 07 Aug 2010

The threatening overcast skies stayed remarkably free from rain as three North Roaders took to this week’s track league at Gosling. This had an effect on the size of all the groups racing as there were a lot of 'stay-aways' compared to last week.

So It was Ian Coles and Simon Best in the 'A's and Warren Cobb the sole member in the B's.  However after one outing in the scratch A race, Ian sought out the track league organiser Peter Waghorn and  asked if he could be demoted back down to the B's citing the fact that he wasn't happy with not even finishing any of his races and also that this was the only racing he did at present. Pete allowed it which meant that Simon will have to plough a lone furrow in the A's until John Saysell is back.

Simon got pipped for the last place in the Devil after riding a tactically smart race and rode well on the front of the A group in the block pursuit and Ian got some good points after staying away for a few laps in the points race and finished the 10-miler which was won by Team Welwyn’s Phil Lisher.

If any other North Roaders fancy turning out either at the end of this season or next, it would be great to see as at present there is far too much Welwyn green down there.
