Wewlyn Track League - Friday 27th April

The first meeting of the Welwyn Track League, sponsored by Plowman Craven, got off to a cracking start with excellent numbers of both senior and youth riders and a fine start to the season. The senior 10 mile was fast and furious with 50 starters, but only a handful of finishers. With 15 of the 35 laps remaining the field was down to just 16 riders. A number of attacks gained 30 metres or so but were brought back by the chasing, but diminishing bunch. With five laps remaining, the field was down to 12 riders as Bryan Taylor, Robert Cox and Joel Stewart launched the final attack but to no avail as Ross Edgar, Sam Fry and Joe Perrett towed the rest up to the break. In the final dash to the line, Bryan Taylor edged out Ross Edgar to take the victory with North Road Cycling Club’s Trevor Burke in third spot.
