Hill Climb and Speed Judging 2026

The annual hill climb at Digswell along with the speed judging competition.
On a sunny Autumn morning 13 riders turned up for the annual Digswell Hill Climb, 12 North Roaders and 1 guest. After a delayed start, due to the timekeepers being late, and a discussion about the start line, moved due to an updated risk assessment, proceedings got under way.
The fastest North Roader was Jamie Anderson with a time of 2:48 which was 3 seconds faster than his 2025 time. He was not the fastest on the day though as that was Jeremy Henwood, Hastings & St Leonards CC, with a time of 2:34. The best improver of the day goes to Barbara Kubis who recorded a time of 4:40 which was 34 seconds faster than last year. Well done to Barbara.
After the Hill Climb it was back to Burnham Green Village Hall for Emma's legendary toasties. Along with cakes provided by Viv, Emma, Barbara and Debbie. After everyone had their fill of toasties and cake the Speed Judging was run. Every electronic device on the cyclists competing was put into a box so that no cheating was allowed. The cyclists were timed for the first lap and when everyone was back they were timed for the second lap but going in the opposite direction. The differences were then calculated. The winner was Sam Watling with a difference of 1 second. The largest difference was 1:20.
