North Road C C Club 25 Mile Time Trial – Sat 4th September 2010

A good turn out from the helpers who outnumbered the riders.   Annabel and June in charge of catering, Nick Harris in charge of the marshals – Ken Lovett, Richard Somerset, Bruce Metheringham, Matthew Crees and Bob Wade plus Alan and Joan Kennedy cheering the riders onto the finish, and Graham Thompson holding the watches under the careful eye of Peter Little.   It was good to meet a very fit looking Jim Parsons out from his nearby home and riding round the course.    Jim - next year you will have to get those big gears revving in anger on your home course!   The Guilden Morden, Wendy and Wrestlingworth circuit course is a sporting course and doubly so when there is a strong breeze, which results in the times being stretched well beyond the hour.    Mike Bridge and Steve James were well ahead of the others especially after Gavin Lewis punctured near Guilden Morden after a few miles and about to catch his minute man.   The best ride of the day belongs to Joanna.    Bruce has persuaded her to join the Club and then went onto to persuade her to ride her first 25.    This was after a flight to London from Boston (not Lincs but USA) which included two hours sleep.     Devotion to cycling or true love – you can decide!      It would be a pity to let club 25s fall by the wayside but more riders are needed.     25 miles is equivalent to twice plus a half around  the Brickendon circuit and you do not have to climb Robin's Nest Hill or the hill from Bayford Station so it' s a dawdle really.    Or should that be a doddle!
