Four North Roaders competed in the sixth round of the Welwyn Track League at a sunny and warm Gosling Stadium: perennial competitors Richard Somerset, Simon Best, Ian Coles and Warren Cobb.
Simon was active in the opening 10 lap scratch for B riders, Sporting a new disc wheel, he attempted to form a break at half distance but the group came back together for the sprint where Ian came 5th and the other North Roaders finished in the bunch.
There was no success for the North Road in the 10 lap handicap but in the next event, the 10 lap points race Simon gained some early lap points to finish third overall.
The final event was the 10 mile for A and B riders. Warren pulled out at half distance. Richard was going well and hung on with the A’s to finish just at the back of the main group, Ian a few places behind him. The time for 10 miles was 21.22 (28 mph).
