Brickendon 10, Wk 1, 9th May 2017

The road works on the downhill stretch from Brickendon Green have not yet ended and the contractors cannot be subject to any productivity bonus as the work appears to have no completion date. This is bad news for our evening 10s and yet again the distance has been reduced to 6.6 miles.

Despite this and the continuing March weather fourteen plucky riders signed on for the first solo event with Peter Nunn narrowly getting the better of Nick Candy by five seconds. Roughly five minutes covered the rest of the field with the exception of Paul Groves who found the course not to his liking - it must be those hills!

The timekeeper was frozen at his post as he failed to record a time for James Tyrer who started last and finished last but his calculated time was worked out to be in the region of 22.51. Both must do better next time when hopefully some warmer weather arrives.
