Brickendon Time Trial League Week 1 - Tuesday 22nd April 2008
North Road Cycling Club held Round One of the Ken Davis Salver series at Brickendon Green and Dave Candy continued his form from last year. On a very good night for racing, 37 riders entered with 25 North Roaders competing for valuable points. But the night belonged to a former North Roader Craig Simpson, who delivered the most impressive performance. Racing with a slight breeze, Simpson, riding with Blue Sky Cycles, flew around the 10-mile circuit, knocking four seconds of his course record with 19 minutes 50 seconds. Dave, the 2007 champion, stormed around, the first North Roader – fourth overall – sailed past the timekeeper in 22:17, a full 63 seconds ahead of the next North Roader, Simon Best. Clocking a personal best, third place went to Tony May, only four seconds behind Simon. New member Laurence Pidcock, riding his first Brickendon Green event, took fourth place among the North Roaders with 23:30. Also recording personal bests were Marcus Machell, Jeff Robinson, Mark Jenkins and Jennifer Hill.
