Brickendon Time Trial League Week 2 - Tuesday 1st May
Dave Candy led home his North Road Cycling Club team-mates in Round Two of the Ken Davis Salver – but he has his work cut out to retain the title if Ian Coles continues to sustain his sensational early season form. Another excellent turnout at Brickendon Green saw 21 North Roaders competing and, although Dave took 30 points for the second successive week, the performance of Ian was the most eye-catching. Hisstunning ride saw him collect a second runners-up berth and best his previous best – set only seven days earlier – by a remarkable 38 seconds. This time Ian was only 15 seconds slower than all-conquering Dave and sounded a clear warning to his rivals in the 10 series. Darren Rochford completed a top three identical to last week with a time of 23 minutes. The overall winner was Craig Simpson (Blue Sky Cycles), one of the eight guests, past the finishing line in 21:49.
