An historic evening at Brickendon Green saw the course record smashed and eight North Roaders set new personal bests at a hugely eventful seventh round of the club’s Ken Davis Salver. The most popular club event in East Herts drew a record entry of 41 riders, with 26 members of the home club and 15 guest riders. One of the visitors, former North Road rider Craig Simpson who now rides for Blue Sky Cycles, produced a devastating display to beat the course record he set in 2005 by a staggering eight seconds with 19:42. The evening was also particularly memorable for Ian Coles, Richard Somerset, Mark Lawrence, John McDowell, Nick Ison, Tony May, Simon Best and Steve James who all recorded their personal bests around the 9.1-mile route. However, in the overall club competition there was nothing unusual about the result as Dave Candy gained his seventh successive victory ahead of Ian, Richard and Chris Symonds.
