On a cold blustery evening, five North Roaders set out on a journey to the depths of their soul
It was cold and windy, windy and cold. The cold wind whistled against the wintry blast and the biting, frosty, glacial, draughty, howling zephyr blew like a chilled gale frozen by the rapid movement of air. Was it warm, sultry and still, like the balmy Summer evenings to come? You are kidding me. It was hurricane force brass monkeys.
Nevertheless, 5 riders braved the tricky conditions and cleverly managed to organise themselves into finishing in reverse order of starting, 4 of them huddling together for warmth and crossing the line within a minute of each other:
Pos | Rider | Time | Pts |
1 | Jim Moss | 22.11 | 30 |
2 | Chris Dixon | 26.57 | 27 |
3 | Andy Hadfield | 27.30 | 25 |
4 | Dan Tarry | 28.05 | 23 |
5 | Ivana Prokopova | 29.39 | 21 |
Thanks as always to the even braver helpers. Pete (organiser and timekeeper), Frank (general factotum), Chris G (signage), Nikki, Graham and Debbie (refreshments).
So Jim takes an early lead in the Ken Davis Silver Salver, Ivana completely dominates the field in the women's competition, Dan makes a highly respectable start to his time-trialling career, and Chris collects more points than he usually gets in an entire season. It's not over yet though, still plenty to play for. Who will challenge them?
