Brickendon Time Trial League Week 13 - Tuesday 17th July

Despite the blustery conditions, 29 riders took part in the North Road Cycling Club’s Brickendon Green “10”. Eighteen North Roaders competed for points in Round 13 of the Ken Davis Salver. As in the past 12 weeks there was no change with the leader, Dave Candy, taking the maximum points with a time of 22:25 – taking 16 seconds out of second place Daren Rochford. It was very tight for third place with Richard Somerset just beating Simon Best by two seconds. He finished with a time of 23:46. There was just eight seperating separating third from sixth position. Rod Kelson rode his first event of the season. Leigh Harvey, off at No. 3, and travelling fast down the Brickendon Lane hill encountered an unfortunate incident; a coach pulled out of one of the turnings and stopped suddenly. The driver had not seen Leigh coming. Fortunately quick thinking Leigh, had no alternative but to ride straight into the bushes by the side of the road. She returned to Headquarters, luckily without serious injuries. The overall winner was Finsbury Park CC rider Hugh Vivian with a time of 22:19.
