Cake attracts more helpers than riders but Candy proves handy on the slopes

Despite the at times very heavy rain, eight brave souls took the start where a shock win by the unheralded Nick Candy sent the bookmakers home happy. Nick seemed pretty pleased if a little surprised. Special mention must go to Nuala Robinson who wasn't put off by some start line mechanical gremlins and almost made the podium.
It wouldn't be a North Road Hill Climb without the post race hospitality provided by the Bonfields and this year they delivered in spades. So a big thank you to Gill and Bill for the fantastic spread.
