Because of a nasty bug that's been going around, this was the first event for a long while, and it was bitterly cold on a sunny morning in Brickendon. Seven adventurous riders took on the traditional course, hampered somewhat by leisure cyclists, horse-riders, gravel a-plenty and roadworks at the Bayford triangle.

A quiet ride to a garden centre was marred by inappropriate behaviour from a threatening gang that left witnesses shocked and scarred.
