Between the downpours the Welwyn Wheelers and the North Road fitted in their hill climbs, the six riders or so from the Welwyn   being the first to go at 10 o’clock with the North Road following at 10.30 o’clock.     Nick Harris and Graham Thompson were in charge of the timekeeping with Ken Lovett doing the pushing off.     Pierce rounded off a good season by taking first place closely pursued by President Frank and Glyn in second and third places respectively.     We had four guest riders – two grandsons of Gill and Bill Bonfield -  and two other guests.    David Harman, a former member of the Herts Wheelers and Jamie Philpott,

 

a young rider from Buntingford riding his first event.     Happily both expressed a wish to join the Club.

 

Gill and Bill Bonfield as at so many previous end-of-season-events gave us a very warm welcome at their nearby home with a lavish display of home made cakes and hot drinks.

The riders, helpers and visitors tucked into these and our President had a few words to say

in congratulating the riders and thanking the helpers for making the event a success.
