Brickendon Two-up-but-due-to-covid-one-up - Sunday 11 April 2021

Because of a nasty bug that's been going around, this was the first event for a long while, and it was bitterly cold on a sunny morning in Brickendon. Seven adventurous riders took on the traditional course, hampered somewhat by leisure cyclists, horse-riders, gravel a-plenty and roadworks at the Bayford triangle.

1. John Saysell 26.37
2. Ashley Glass 26.50
=. Chris Dixon 26.50
4. Andy Muir 29:41
5. Ivana Prokopova 29.54
6. Nikki Chandler 29.57

Others:
Anton Blacket Welwyn Wheelers 24:25

John took the winner's medal, closely followed by Ashley and Chris, with Andy, Ivana and Nikki separated by just a few seconds in the battle for fourth place. Anton put everyone in the shade with an excellent time given the conditions.

A safely distanced collection of supporters cheered on the participants and it was good to see everyone after a long break in activities. We'll all look forward to the start of the  Brickendon series on Tuesday May the Fourth (and may the force be with all riders).

Big thanks as always go to the organisers and helpers: Pete Nunn (organiser and timekeeper), Frank Rawlins (signage and registration), Eve Hillcoat and Nikki Chandler (refreshments), Ian Turner (photos).
