John McDowall and Bryan Holland raced in the Vets +50 and Vets 40-49 races respectively.
A long slightly uphill tarmac starting section, utilising the road race circuit, enabled some early pace grabbing by the North Roaders and helped even out some of the grid position disadvantages.
From then on both rode their own races purposefully and with determination steadily picking off, passing, and dropping opponents.
John came home in 24th in the vets +50 completing five laps in 41.34. Bryan finished in 21st place in the vets 40-49 race with six laps in 48.10.
