A dominating display from the North Road resulted in a fine one-two for Richard Somerset and Tim Brown at round 3 of the LVRC Thursday evening series at Dunton.

Seven North Roaders lined up for the start: Richard and Tim, Steve Sexton, Ian Turner, Derek Evans, Dave Kiely and Steve Blackwell.

Race tactics were largely dictated by the strong headwind down the home straight, any attacks that managed to get away in the tailwind back straight were caught when the break struggled into the wind coming past the finish line.

A lap before the second prime Ian attacked hard and stayed away to take the cash.

Steve B and Derek were riding well to stay In the bunch whilst the other North Roader tried hard to establish a break.

Four laps to go and at the bottom of the hill Richard spotted some hesitation in the bunch and with Tim just off the front attacked and the duo were away. After one lap the gap was up to the length of the finishing straight. Tim and Richard worked well together, fully committed to the attack. The other five played loyal team members and sat on the front of the bunch discouraging the chase.

On the final bend into the headwind Richard started the sprint early and pulled away to take the win, his first road race win in 18 years of racing. Tim took second to equal his best result of the year and to continue his excellent run of results in only his first season.

A great team performance! Next task is to win at Hog Hill.
