Central Cyclo-Cross League - WGC Sunday 19th Jan 2014

Stanborough Lakes, WGC, provided the venue for the last round of the Central CX League.  Heavy rain before the event, combined with the natural ‘toughness’ of the course ensured a testing day on two wheels for a good turn out of North Roaders.


In the Junior/Vets/Women’s combined race the results where,


Bryan Holland came 19th overall in 41.28 and was 11th in the Vets +40 category 

John McDowall 25th in 42.15 and was 14th in the Vet +40

Dave Kiely came 27th in 43.03 and was 16th in the +40 Vets


Hannah Ormesher was 31st overall in 43.52 and won the Women’s race 

Lawrence Brenchley achieved 50th in 49.25 and was 14th in the Vets +50 race

A total of 72 riders competed


The Senior race capped a successful day for the North Road with the maiden CX win for David Vaughan excelling in the muddy conditions.  He competed seven laps in 55.54 to win by just shy of one minute over his closest rival.  Matt Crees came 28th competing five laps in 1.00. 25.


The most successful North Roader in the Central League this season was Hannah, who finished second women overall.  In the overall standings of the Vets +40, Bryan, John and Dave came 11th, 13th and 19th respectively.  Lawrence having only completed in three races came 16th in the +50 Vets.  In the Seniors Dave and Matt came 32nd and 35th
