Eastern Cross League Season Round-Up

Tue 12 Feb 2013

North Road CC came 9th of 24 teams overall in the Eastern League with all riders contributing towards the points system.

In the Vets league John McDowall came in 18th place after illness ended his season slightly early.  Tim Brown started strongly with some really impressive results, before illness again wiped out a good part of his season, leaving him in 20th position.  Dave Kiely came in 21st, with a collection of cyclo-cross misdemeanors that simply had to be seen to be believed.  Steve James season contained some excellent results but perhaps lacked some consistency.  He came in 36th of 83 riders.

Bryan Holland and Matt Harris in their first year of cyclo-cross in the Elite Vet category (those aged 40 to 45)  achieved 12th and 46th position out of 53 riders.

Hannah Ormesher, the sole North Road female rider, and ever present at all races finished third Senior Woman overall.  She received a bronze medal for her season's efforts, and came seventh overall in the women’s league of 19.

Last but not least, Joe Kiely finished his season third U10, claiming bronze medal position on the podium with proud dad Dave in the audience. He finished 11th overall in the U12’s category of 60 riders.

A great season all round with some truly memorable racing.  For those members thinking of racing cross next season then talk to any of the members above about the ins-and-outs of some winter mud-plugging.
