Six North Roaders were on the start line in the BC 4th cat race as part of the multi category event at the former Olympic site.
Michael
Higgins, Michael Atkinson, Ian Clay, Pierce McGrenaghan, Hugo Evans and
vet Del Evans all set off as the field attacked from the start, Del was
soon dropped [ no place for old men] as the
fast pace told. The younger NR riders all showed strongly near the front of the bunch with Michael
Atkinson moving to the head of the race on the bell lap with Hugo and Pierce just behind as the finale loomed.
With
a bunch sprint inevitable Pierce positioned himself well to finish 5th
overall and to get enough points to provisionally gain his 3rd category
licence in his first season of racing.
