Cardigan town centre crits, 3/4 cats - Sunday 14th August 2011

I raced at Cardigan in their town centre Crit and won the 3/4 cat race;

The race was held over forty minutes and two laps. As is the case with most town centre crits, the race split almost immediately, the front group slowly reduced, helped by the very steep but short climb, down to nine cyclists. Of the nine cyclists in the front group six were from Ystwyth cycle club.

Many of Ystwyth cyclists were reluctant to do any work until ten minutes to go when they started attacking the group. The group soon started to lap the main field, with them in sight I had little option other than to attack taking one of the Ystwyth cyclists with me. We very quickly built a margin of about 15 seconds which, by working together, we kept to the line. I kicked first for the sprint and kept ahead to take my final win as a third category rider.
