There were only two North Roaders at Dunton last night for round 6 of the LVRC Thursday evening league. Tim Brown and Richard Somerset both started the race in second place overall in their respective categories: Tim in the B’s (age 45 to 49) and Richard in the A’s (40 to 44) so it was all to play for with one round left on the 19th August.
Race tactics were largely dictated by a strong headwind down the back straight. After the slog up the hill any attacking riders struggled to stay away and were soon brought back. On the home straight the speed was too high for riders to establish a break.
A bunch sprint looked inevitable but this didn’t stop Tim from attacking in the last few laps to get away but with no success.
On the finishing straight for the last time Richard positioned himself well, found a gap and finished a bike’s length behind three riders to claim fourth place and first of the A cat’s. Tim finished in the bunch.
Richard is now equal second in the A's. Tim in equal second in the B's
