LVRC Hog Hill 2 - Thurs 2nd June 2011

Fri 03 Jun 2011

A spirited night's racing saw the return for the ‘Old Guard’ of the North Road in the latest LVRC event at Hog Hill.  Tim Brown was his usual active self up front looking to mark and initiate breaks.  Both Richard Somerset, Steve Taylor and John McDowall showed in patches but generally remained in the comforting bosom of the bunch.  The racing was full on in places and one of these hard sections accounted for Derek Evans and Andy Boyall, although Andy managed to latch on to the back after being lapped and completed the race.

Tim Brown unfortunately punctured just at the sharp-end end of the race. With the North Road team leader out of action it was left to his hard working domestiques to fly the North Road banner. Six riders had escaped up the road when another break was attempted from the glutenous reaches of the bunch.  This attempt was skillfully marked by Richard, but left the Badger unable to respond when another break of two riders developed.  However, John managed to bridge the gap and working with the other riders stayed away to finish second in his mini-sprint to come 8th overall.  Richard having recovered a little, rode away from the remains of the bunch for five laps to come in a fine tenth position.  Steve Taylor finished in the bunch.
