LVRC Hog Hill - 5th May 2013

Tue 07 May 2013

A return to LVRC crit racing for some (John McDowall, Del Evans, Chris Glithero and Steve James) with a first outing at Hog Hill for one of the North Road trackies Eric Pailet.   A large field gathered at the start line with a distressing  number of ‘big guns’ apparent.  This became noticeable in the early laps as the racing pace was the brisk side of ferocious.

Steve James and Del Evans lasted a number of early laps before the turbo charged pace claimed them.  Eric showed plenty of confidence in working his way up the group and was even spotted at the front of the pack half way through the lap.  John held on with a finger-nails-digging-into-bar-tape tenacity at the back end of the group,  but struggled to make any further progress up the paceline,  as speeds and effort levels remained high.  Eric and John finished in that order, in 40th and 42nd place in a reduced bunch at the finishing line half way up the Hoggenberg.

Chris rode confidently in what was the biggest turn-out of over sixties racers in many a year (29).  He remained with the bunch until the very final gallop to the line and came in 14th place and happy with his mornings work.
