Eastern CX League 4- Northlands Cross

Overnight rain had done little to change the race kart like ground conditions for the North Road CX’ers. Some stiff power climbing combined with some swoopy downhill sections meant a full charge effort in mild autumn conditions.

John suffered a puncture and had to pit to change a rear wheel but still came home in 16th at +3.49, with Tim 18th at +3.56 down from the winner Jon Lyons of GC Invecta who did seven laps in 39.50. Seventy-three starters with three DNFs.

A first race of the season for Bryan Holland in the Vets 40-49 race after a combination of injury and holiday. A terrific start into the first serious of bends left Bryan battling in about tenth place before disaster struck on the first of the short power climbs with the rear mech going into his rear wheel. An almost full lap of running put paid to any hope of a decent finish. Bryan came home in 40th place at a lap and 4.30 down on Robert Purcell of Neon-Velo CC who completed seven laps in 38.11. Forty-five starters with three DNFs.
