Gnarly Roots and the Crossers

Unseasonable mild weather for this round of the ECXL set mostly in forested single track. With little elevation on the course the main challenge was mastering the twists and turns and the varied under tyre conditions with a range of mud types and depths.  Added to this was a large sprinkling of gnarly roots scattered round like medieval caltrops.  The course broke cover on three separate occasions to give riders the chance to spin up their legs.
The regular trio of crossers where representing the North Road again.  In the Vets 40-49 race was John McDowall and Bryan Holland with Matt Crees in the Seniors event.
Solid rides from all the North Roaders on a course perhaps not entirely suited to their riding styles..  Bryan came home in 17th place at +5.22 on the winner.  John was a further three places back and and additional 56 seconds down (20th)   56 riders started with two DNFs.
Matt Crees was 24th at a lap and 6.45 down with 41 starters and five DNFs.
