John McDowall - the Lewis Hamilton of Cyclocross
A multi-terrain tester of a CX course set in the verdant grounds of Princess Helena College, Preston.
John McDowall and Tim Brown were joined by Steve James to make up the North Road entry to the Vets +50 category.
John was a DNF for the second week in a row after a race ending mechanical
Tim was 16th at +3.16 down on the winner who completed six laps in 43.09. Steve came home in 23rd at +5.07. There were 76 starters with five DNFs.
After a mixed weekend last week, Bryan Holland took to the start line determined for a full on race effort in the Vets 40-49 race. A terrific start meant he gained good position early on and remained tenacious in his determination to maintain this placing well up to the front of the race.
A very strong showing from the ever improving Bryan with a well deserved 8th place at +3.23 on the winner, Mike Mooney of Hub Velo, who managed six laps in 40.48
