John top 12 in WG City
A local CX for local people as the Eastern League ventured to WGC for what is always a tester of a course. Half the course was cunningly weaved continuously up-and-down and left-and-right with plentiful dead turns to tackle. The other half was Serengeti like allowing some ‘big gear’ roam free action.
Just two North Roaders in the Vets +50 race - John McDowall and Tim Brown.
The best ever CX placing for John coming home in 12th with Tim in 25th. They where 3.27 and 5.47 down on the winner, Jimmy Piper of Iceni Velo, who completed five laps in 39.44 (76 starters with one DNF)
Bryan Holland was agin our only competitor in the vets 40-49 race. Another good start saw our man battling for position just outside the top ten in the race order. A rolled tub with just over a lap to go, fortunately quite near the pits, meant a bike change.
Bryan crossed the line in 16th place, at 3.55 down on the winner, Mike Mooney of Hub Velo who completed five laps in 38.34.
