East London Velo Winter Series #6, Hog Hill

Despite sub zero temperatures and occasional snow flurries a healthy field assembled on the line including our own Hugo Evans and Paul McGrath.

As the race got under way Hugo realised he had punctured during warm up and with the commissaire's permission took a lap out to replace wheel and rejoin events. With Paul amongst others riding aggressively a fast pace ensued, Hugo managed to hang on the back of the bunch at this time as the leading riders were intent on shredding the field. Halfway through with the job done the race settled with the likely riders all together at the front. By now the weather had made an impact, Paul packed as he could not change gear anymore and with others succumbing to the cold only the brave/foolhardy/flandrien *delete as appropiate continued, Hugo by now had recovered from the early action and positioned himself for the last climb up the Hoggenberg finishing in 6th place to record his first BC points of the season.
