LVRC Ciclos Uno Summer Series. Hog Hill Thurs 28th May 2015‏

Thu 28 May 2015

Blustery conditions at Hog Hill for the third round of the LVRC crit series.  The addition of a new piece of tarmac meant a two thirds ascent of the Hoggenberg for the ‘old timers’ rather than the usual sharp turnback at the bottom of the climb utilised in previous years This added some extra climbing per lap and made for a more challenging race.
Del Evans maintained good bunch position after a positive showing at Dunton the previous week.  Sadly, a sharp rise in the pace meant he was soon detached from the main bunch and was a DNF.  Eric Pailet rode strongly towards and off the front of the race but admitted after that he ‘did too much and suffered for it.‘ and eventually finished 30th
John McDowall had tried his luck earlier in the race but with five laps to go he jumped across to a lone rider and they both worked together to keep clear of the bunch all the way to the finish with one lone rider working stoically from the bunch to bridge across.  With a number of riders already away it was a sprint for sixth with John coming second out of the mini group of three to come seventh overall and fourth B group rider
