SERRL Winter Series Round 4, Hog Hill - Sunday, 28 November 2010
Cat and mouse with a smattering of soft pedaling in a small and evenly matched group for the first five or six laps indicated the race was bound to end in a sprint . Given that I can't sprint for toffee I decided that I would have to try and go off of the front if there were any chance of doing okay. Making a gap just before the climb up to the top of the circuit I dug in and pushed on. After half a lap I took a glimpse over my shoulder to see no one was following. The group, it would seem, carried on with it's game of cat and mouse. I lapped the main group with five to go. Second and third place were now off of the front of the main group and spurred on by catching the others I caught them on the last climb. A lucky day in the saddle, helped by an indecisive pack and no head-wind!
