Big Events 4th Cat only. Hog Hill. Sun 13th July 2014

A good turn out of North Roaders for a 4th Cat only race at Hog Hill.  Racing where some more senior ‘salty sea dogs’ Del Evans, Michael Higgins and John McDowall.  Whilst the ‘young guns‘ of Hugo Evans,  Piece McGrenaghan and Michael Atkinson completed the North Road contingent.

The racing was standard Fourth Cat affair.  Some er...interesting cornering and a fair range of abilities with some hard efforts up the Hoggenberg.   Michael Atkinson looked strong all race maintaining a good position at the pointy end of affairs.  Pierce was on the hunt for BCF points, but sadly suffered a puncture right at the far end of the circuit, that ended his race.     Hugo and John remained in the bunch whilst Del and Michael Higgins where eased out the back as the race progressed.

The decisive break occurred as the bell was sounded on the ascent of the Hoggenberg.  Michael A was in a four man group that gapped another small group containing John with Hugo just distanced at that decisive moment.    Michael had been active all race and perhaps paid for his efforts right at the end as his break away partners left him on the final climb of the Hoggenberg and some of the chasing group climbed past him to the finishing line.  

Michael A came home in a well deserved eighth place, achieving his first BCF points.  John, in his first non-flat Hog Hill race since dinosaurs roamed the Earth, came home in 13th.  Hugo was next home in 17th place to complete the North Road finishers.
