Two North Road riders, John McDowall and Richard Somerset, were involved in the lower circuit hour plus three laps circuit race. Both were active at various times, with Richard holding a more dominant postion at the front of the race than John, who chose a more eclectic range of bunch postioning.
The bulk of the C/D riders were caught early in the piece, although two had escaped and remained away to secure the first two places.
A touch of wheels bought two riders down with a lap to go, with John next in line behind the crash some momentum was inevitably lost for the final gallop to the line. Richard secured seventh spot overall (2nd best A cat rider) while John battled in one place further down than his team-mate.
