The George Drewell Memoral Races LVRC Hog Hill Sun 27th Sept 09

Sun 27 Sep 2009

The George Drewell memorial races at Hog Hill attracted a sizable and talented group of riders, and four North Roaders.  With substantial cash prizes on offer, and primes every lap, a good kicking looked the order of the day for many riders.  With Simon Best feeling unwell, and Chris Glithero not relishing the pace up the dreaded Hogenberg, it was perhaps not suprising that they were off the pace early on.

Richard Somerset rode rather stronger, holding a good postion in the upper echelons of the bunch, while John McDowall was unable to move up and was at the back end of a rapidly diminshing bunch.   With forty minutes gone John suffered the misfortune to drop a chain on the approach to the hill, althoug his sigh of relief could be heard at the finish line some distance away.

Richard battled on holding a good postion, but in the final carnage of the gallop to the line straggled in two-thirds in down what was a very shredded and weary bunch
