East London Velo Thursday Evening 1 LVRC 14th May 09

The first East London Velo Thursday night LVRC eventat Hog hill attracted entries from two North Road members.  Run on the lower circuit over a slightly shorter 45 min plus five laps, and with a smaller bunch than usual, the race started off at a frenetic pace and was a pacey affair throughout.  Steve Blackwell in his first Hog Hill race battled manfully to remain involved while John McDowall was able to contribute to the ebb and flow of the event.  A break of leading C/D category riders was eventually caught with four laps to go before a winning break escaped with a handful of laps remaining.  John finished about twelfth overall, while Steve was gapped towards the later stages of the race and rolled round to the finish.
