LVRC Hog Hill Sunday 10th May 2009

Wed 13 May 2009

A good turn out of North Roaders ensured a decent electric blue colouring to the bunch at Hog Hill on Sunday the 10th of May.  With the lower circuit in use no Hoggenburging was required, so a decent pace was the order of the day along with some high speed cornering.  An early misadventure on a sharp bend lead to one rider exploring the muddier environs off circuit and lead to an early split in the bunch.  Nick Harris had to work hard to bridge this gap and paid for his efforts later when he retired three-quarters the way through the race.  Steve Taylor in his first competitive race also dropped out early in the piece having gained some valuable experience.  Both Richard Somerset and Jeff Robinson were active early on with John McDowall becoming more apparent after the forty minute mark, with all three rider’s attempting to break away at various times.  Chris Glithero had set off earlier with the C/D riders and battled manfully to remain in the mix until the very end.  The sprint when it came was of the long and prolonged variety, with Jeff securing a well deserved sixth place, John battled for eleventh, and Chris and Richard finishing in what remained of the bunch
