FORD CC DUNTON SERIES (EVENT 6). Thursday 17th July 2014

Sat 19 Jul 2014

I was the sole North Road entrant for the LVRC Vets Crit at Dunton.   An hour plus three laps on a schorchio of an evening at the Ford motor racing test track.  An early (second lap) break by two Colourtech riders remained away for the whole race.

I was active in attempting to get away and across a couple of times with other willing riders, but neither break came to anything as a large bunch was keen to keep a tight rein on bolting riders.   It was third time lucky as I jumped away again just as the three laps to go board made its welcome appearance.

This produced  rather more interest from some of the friskier riders, and with some riders ahead pulled in, a group of ten eventually coalesced away from the main bunch.   I attempted a long sprint to the line but was chased down and eventually crossed the line in ninth place in the group, and eleventh overall, but generally pleased with my form in building my race fitness for the cross season.
