CICLOS UNO SUMMER SERIES No.6 - Thurs 24th July 2014

Lower circuit Vets crit action at Hog Hill on another very hot day.  Regulars John McDowall and Del Evans where joined by Bryan Holland and Tim Brown.

A steady start for the first five laps before the race exploded into action.  Del had hung on well, but caught a pedal on the hairpin, and despite staying upright lost crucial momentum and was gapped from a rapidly diminishing bunch.  John and Bryan both found themselves on the wrong side of gapped groups and both had to do some hard yards on several occasions to just regain contact.   Tim was maintaining a better position in a thinning main bunch so that when a break occurred he was off up the road and was part of the main action.  Bryan did some strategic blocking on the front of the bunch whilst John finally managed to work his way towards the front.

With riders scattered all over the circuit, and a separate race for the over sixties also racing, there was some sort of mix up with the laps remaining board that threw Tim at the end of the race.   John came home second in the sprint for what remained of the bunch, just piping team mate Bryan by half-a-wheel.  

The final results don’t show Tim although he was ahead of the main bunch.  John and Bryan have been currently credited with eighth and ninth respectively
