LVRC Dunton Series, Race 2 - Thurs 27th May 2010
A good turn out of riders ensured a packed if somewhat lethargic bunch for the latest in the LVRC mid-week race series. The pace was steady with several touring laps before some half-hearted breaks that increased the pace a little although they where all reeled in with ease by the bunch. Steve Sexton in his first outing for the club, showed strongly to secure a prime with a well sustained sprint.
With the main bunch seeming to gird its loins in preparation for the inevitable bunch sprint, John McDowall launched himself off the front on the draggy climb about a quarter of the way round the course. With Tim Brown poised menacingly at the front of the bunch doing sterling work in holding up any with thoughts to chase down. John achieved a sizable gap and was able to stay away to gain his first race victory. Tim sprinted strongly to secure a well deserved fifth place whilst Dave Kiely, Steve Sexton and Chris Glithero finished comfortable ensconced in the bosom of the main bunch
