Tim Brown 5th in first road race, LVRC Dunton Series 1 - Thurs 13th May 10

LVRC Dunton Thursday Evening Series, Race 1, A/B/C cat, one hour plus three laps

Tim Brown scored an impressive 5th place in his first ever road race at the LVRC event at Dunton.

Four North Roaders took part in the first race of the summer series: Richard Somerset, Derek Evans, Tim Brown and John McDowall.

Tim and John were active in the early skirmishes but nothing stuck. Richard tried to get away with some of the usual suspects in the second half of the race but with no success. Two laps to go John flew off the front as the bunch hesitated and he looked good for the win until the pace increased ready for the sprint and he was caught.

In the dash for the line Tim tried an audacious early move, Andy Ballantyne (Easterley RC) took his wheel and passed him for the win, Richard just pipped Tim on the line for what he thought was second place, however two riders had got away earlier on so Richard finished 4th and Tim 5th.  John and Del finished in the bunch.
