LVRC Dunton - Sunday 22nd July

Report from Nick Harris

After a break of a few weeks LVRC racing resumed at Dunton and Sunday's race saw three Northroaders -  Del Evans, John McDowall and myself on the start line eagerly anticipating the off.  The field I guess amounted to about 40, the most so far and included many of the usual suspects.  Yet again it was quite windy which to some extent shaped the race with numerous attempted breaks that were all reeled in until seven riders escaped on the only hill at about half distance and quickly established a small but significant gap that grew inexorably despite some heroic work by many including the North Road outfit.  A combination of a slightly more organised chase and some pre-sprint messing about by the break brought the gap down considerably but in the end we had to settle for a bunch sprint for eighth in which John grabbed an overall twelfth place.
