LVRC racing Dunton - 11th August

With two members of the blue lead out train, Derek Evans and Nick Harris, missing due to other commitments it was left to Dunton regular John McDowall and debutant Simon Best to fly the flag for the North Road.  A larger field than in previous weeks, combined with a strong wind down the back straight lead to a slightly more tactical race than in previous weeks.  Both Simon and I made attempts towards the back end of the race to break away from the main bunch, but vigorous chasing down by an energetic pack ensured that any riders that got away where quickly reeled in.  With two earlier break away riders getting the leading brace of places it was a mass bunch sprint for the remaining positions with Simon and I safely ensconced in the comforting bosom of the main bunch.
