LVRC Hog Hill summer series 6 - Thursday 15th July 2010

Fri 16 Jul 2010

Strong blustery winds greeted the three North Road riders (John McDowall, Tim Brown and Chris Glithero) for some lower lap fun at Hog Hill.  With such strong winds on the exposed circuit John felt secure in uttering one of his infamous Mystic Meg predictions that 'there was 'no chance of the race splitting'.  With that in mind, and an early prime on offer. John dashed away to secure the fiver..

Sadly, his attack lead to the collapse of his prediction as the fireworks were then lit as a lone rider sprinted ahead followed by a major break developing to chase him.  With John recovering from his prime efforts at the back of the group, Tim cunningly jumped on, and the bunch splintered within a handful of laps.  John and two other riders worked frantically to close the gap, but they failed to make the junction despite some spirited efforts.

Tim in the leading group sprinted home for a well deserved fifth place, whilst John won his mini sprint to come home sixth having lapped the remains of the field. Chris found the early pace difficult to handle and dropped out of contention earlier in the race.
