Scandal rocks Brickendon
A strong whiff of corruption drifted around the village hall on Tuesday evening as first-time timekeeper Roger Fogg was accused of cronyism.
It was alleged that he adjusted ageing cub reporter Chris Dixon's time in return for a sizeable contribution to 'Roger Fogg's Zwift League', a shadowy organisation on the dark web that Mr Fogg denies any connection to.
In a statement Mr Fogg said "There is no evidence, apart from what I wrote on the results sheet, for any wrongdoing on my part and I will get on with the job of protecting the NRCC and saving times."
On a warm night Jim Moss resumed his relentless pursuit of points towards surely being crowned supreme leader in the chase for the coveted Ken Davis Silver Salver. Ivana chose not to ride after being jabbed earlier in the day and slips to third place in the unofficial table, though her lead in the ladies competition looks insurmountable. Chris Symonds is climbing the rankings, but at this stage in the competition, with 9 more evenings planned and only your best 7 results counting, late joiners still have it all to play for.
Other North Roaders blamed their times on tractors, slow moving birds, and a general malaise brought on by contemplating the utter futility of it all.
Andy Hastings rode the first sub-20 minutes of the season, and thanks go to all our guest riders for helping to make it the occasion that it is.
Thanks of course too to Roger for timekeeping, Frank for signage and signing on, Chris G for pushing off, and Graham and Debbie for tea and biscuits.
