Big Events 4th Cat RR Hog Hill. Sat 26th July 2014

Fourth Cat racing on the ‘Alpine Circuit’ at Hog Hill attracted a good number of North Roaders.  Michael Atkinson was joined by Bryan Holland, John McDowall, John Rumbold and youngster Hugo Evans.  Ian Clay also rolled up to the start line in his first experience of racing as the temperature nipped above thirty degrees.

Michael again showed strongly maintaining position well to the fore of the bunch.   The older hands remained more anonymous in the bunch.  Ian lasted about thirty minutes before he was tailed off whilst Hugo suffered a little in the heat and lost contact with five laps to go.

The final lap found the race as one diminished bunch for the final assault  up the climb.  Michael, through a combination of tiredness and a brief lack of concentration, found himself running off the circuit and therefore found himself out of contention.   Bryan maintained the best position up the climb and in the sprint for the line coming in 11th place.  John Mc and John R finished at the back end of the bunch in 19th and 20th place respectively.   Hugo was 27th having gained some more race experience.
